Many students feel a great deal of pressure to know exactly which major they want to pursue when they start their freshman year. For many
students, this is an unrealistic expectation because they don't yet know enough about college majors to make a good decision. After all, one can't know if they like something (even chocolate ice cream) if they have
never tried it! Therefore, many students change or choose majors after they have had a "taste of college".
Also, most Lee majors share enough common requirements that a student changing majors early in his or her
college career is really not very far behind in their academic progress toward graduation. So our advice is, if you know what you'd like to major in, great! But if not, try an "exploratory semester" where
you take courses which sound interesting to you. Also consider your academic strengths and personal values when choosing your courses. (Check out our Assessment page.)
