ABOUT ME

  Harper Family

Born into a pastor’s home in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia in April of 1964, Dr. Jimmy Harper has traveled many miles in ministry. He has lived and worked in China and the US ministering in the states of North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia. Most of his time in ministry has been spent in the area of youth ministry, although he has served as a senior pastor, as well.

Dr. Harper received his Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies in 1986 from Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee. After graduating from Lee, he went to China and earned a one-year language degree from Henan University in the city of Kaifeng. He returned to the States and finished the Master of Divinity from the Church of God Theological Seminary in 1990.

After completing seminary, Dr. Harper spent the next several years in local church ministry. He was involved in ministry with Youth, Children, Christian Education, Music, and more. Eventually he moved to Lee University to teach in the School of Religion. During this time frame, Dr. Harper completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Harper loves sports and traveling. He and his wife of twenty years, Sharon, have two children, James Harper, III, and Jessica Harper. They reside in Cleveland, Tennessee where Dr. Harper is the Campus Pastor and a member of the Faculty in the Christian Ministries Department at Lee University.

For your enjoyment, I have included links to articles that I have written, both published and unpublished.
