About Kim

Dr. Kim Gaines Eckert is a clinical psychologist who is passionate about empowering women to experience the wholeness won for us through Christ.  Dr. Eckert speaks, writes, teaches and counsels about self-esteem, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, body image, and eating disorders. She is dedicated to giving women practical tools for change and growth, grounded in biblical truth and sound theology. Dr. Eckert loves helping people gain a fresh understanding of who they are as children of God – created in his image and restored through the saving grace and love of Christ.

After earning a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology and English at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Dr. Eckert pursued training in psychology and theology at Wheaton College, Illinois, where she completed a master's degree and doctorate in clinical psychology. She has counseled individuals, couples, families and groups in a variety of settings, including private practice, outpatient and inpatient psychiatric hospital care.  Currently, Dr. Eckert is an assistant professor at Lee University, where she teaches personality theory, the psychology of women, and abnormal psychology in the undergraduate psychology program, as well as group therapy and play therapy in the graduate counseling program. Dr. Eckert is also the clinical director for Kids' Talk: the Lee University Play Therapy Center.

Dr. Eckert loves hanging out at home in Chattanooga with her son, Tommy, and her husband, Jeff, a clinical psychologist and licensed clinical social worker. She also loves reading, house projects, movies, coffee, shopping for bargains, and playing with her sweetly wild dog, Henry.
