Welcome!
At a time in academia as the 21st century, the use of instructional technology is at an all time high. The difficulty of using or not using technology in one's teaching is often the lack of knowing the "what" and the "when" it should be implemented. As the Instructional Technologist of Lee University, it is my objective, priviledge, and obligation to be of help to my colleagues in the area of Instructional Technology and Design. I may not be the best teacher, and I know I am not, but that does not deny me the ability to know what works for our students' learning experience. Many a research article has been published showing that most faculty know and suggest one way of teaching but seldom follow what is best. Why? It isn't the most convenient way to teach, that's why (at least the literature suggests that this is the primary reason). It is not easy to prepare for a class with every component that makes the learning and teaching the best it can be - unless the person doing it is gifted.
The need for use of technology is not always obvious, for that matter, there isn't always a time to use technology in teaching. Learners today are surrounded by technology and for the most part find themselves quite comfortable with all types. It is the IT Department's goal to be readily accessible for faculty assistance. In addition to our training sessions, we do multiple types of projects. These will be listed on our DoIT site ;which stands for Dept. of Instructionall Technology. This site continues to grow with information.
On this site I will be listing information about myself, such as my areas or research interest, my curriculum vita, family and courses that I teach at Lee University. Many times my students get to know me before they have met me just by visiting my site.
My wish is that you find what you need, and if you don't, that you will please inquire.
