PAGE, or polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, measures the movement of amino acid containing charged proteins with different AAs moving at different rates depending on their charge. My question is how would you determine the rate of the amio acid movement if it was one of the fifteen AA's that are not negatively or positively charged to begin with--do they just acquire a charge or is there an unknown charge besides the COO- and H2N+ that is part of amino acid?
