Why is it important to avoid contamination in any experiment?? In this particular experiment, bringing in any contamination could have caused proteins to synthesize that otherwise would not have. In any experiment, contamination can greatly skew the results. HCl is a very strong acid. It was used to provide an acidic environment, and because it is a strong acid, it will ionize completely.
