You see, Leah, alloisoleucine is a diastereomer of isoleucine. When racemixation occurs there should be nearly equal amounts of both alloisoleucine and isoleucine. Since there was no alloisoleucine upon racemixation of the amino acids it is thus believed no isoleucine was created and the peak in the reading must be incorrect. The researches didn’t understand the absence of alloisoleucine, nor did they the absence of norvaline or norleucine either. hope that makes some sense to ya.
